Back in 1985, the EPA classified glyphosate as a Class C carcinogen, and back then the C designation meant it was considered a “possible human carcinogen.” In 1991, the substance was re-classified under the E class, meaning “evidence of non-carcinogenicity in humans.”
What happened between 1985 and 1991 will likely go down in history, one way or the other, thanks to the World Health Organization recent announcement that’s brought glyphosate into an international conversation.
In GMO Truth #7, we examine the mouse study that started the entire Class C debate off, and we look at the fight of sorts that took place between the EPA and Monsanto. We’ll finish the story off in June with GMO Truth #8, where we look at the two rat glyphosate cancer studies that eventually led to the Class E designation.
